Can You Benefit From A Thigh Lift?

by Charlie Berry

If you're not happy with the appearance of your legs, you may have considered having a thigh lift performed by a plastic surgeon. Because this procedure isn't for everyone, it pays to move forward with eyes wide open. A consultation with a qualified physician is the best way to determine if you should have it done, but here are three simple ways of knowing if you can benefit.

1. The following situations apply to you. Because a thigh lift removes excess skin and fat on both the inner and outer thighs, there are different types of people this surgery ultimately targets. If any of the following situations apply to you, you might be a good candidate:

  • Exercise and diet have been unsuccessful in ridding your thighs of unwanted fat.
  • You've lost a great deal of weight and now have too much skin on your thighs.
  • You're self-conscious about the amount of excess skin you have.
  • You have a hard time fitting into your clothes because of overly thick thighs.

2. You're aware of the pros and cons. Like any plastic surgery, a thigh lift comes with its own set of pros and cons. And all potential patients should be aware of them before making a final decision.

Pros

  • Enjoy a more proportional and shapely figure
  • Wear your clothes with more confidence
  • Enjoy more slender, youthful thighs without sacrificing beautiful curves

Cons

  • Mild soreness and bruising could occur after surgery
  • Possible scarring could result
  • Skin can appear deflated following liposuction
  • Some patients require a second procedure

The risks associated with a thigh lift aren't much different than what you'd expect with most other surgical cosmetic procedures, and those risks should be discussed with your doctor. Pros and cons will vary among patients, but most people report a desirable outcome.

3. You're a good candidate for the procedure. So, you've met the criteria and made yourself aware of the pros and cons. How do you know if you're a good candidate for the procedure?

For starters, you should be a non-smoker in fairly good health. If you do smoke, your surgeon will ask you to quit before the surgery as being a smoker can increase the healing time.

You should also have a positive outlook about the cosmetic procedure and have realistic expectations when it comes to results. Don't expect a perfect "10" body afterwards, and don't expect any results to happen overnight.

Your doctor will also look at your weight history. If you've recently gained a lot of weight, they may want to postpone the procedure until your weight stabilizes.

Ultimately, you and your doctor should collectively decide if a thigh lift will benefit you in the ways that you expect.

About Me

Chiropractic Healing Works

I used to be skeptical about chiropractic healing. However, that was before I tried it for myself. I was in an accident that did serious damage to my back. I followed all of the doctor’s recommendations, did my physical therapy, and still didn’t feel any better. That was when I finally decided to try going to my friend’s chiropractor. It was such a relief when I finally started to feel better thanks to the great chiropractic care I received. That’s when I decided to start researching chiropractic care and how it could be used to treat different conditions. This blog contains the results of that research. If you’re looking for a way to feel better, you too may benefit from chiropractic healing. These articles will help you learn how.
